Garden Design

For most landscaping projects plants provide the colour and texture to the finished design.  However it is the elements of hard landscaping, such as the structures and surfaces, which provide the framework.  Privacy provided by walls and fencing, the shelter of a trellis or pergola, or just the practical access by a well laid path.  Hard landscaping is as important in creating the overall feel of any garden.

For a virgin plot elements such as pergolas or terraces can provide a great focal point and interest until the planting becomes established and begins to create influence in the garden.  In a mature garden hard landscaping can create renewed interest.

The way we view gardens is changing, we see the garden as an extension of our home, an extra room that happens to be outside.  It is a place for eating, entertaining, and above all enjoyment.  In fact outdoor living is now so popular that a lot of us find it easy to spend as much time and effort on our exterior living space as we do on our interior designs.

Nothing will transform your home as much as great outdoor space, and just as there are trends in interior design, there are always new ideas appearing for garden design.
